VM 1400 ENGINE

A Verner engine mounted on Kolb Mark III

Installation on Kolb Mark III

This engine is the most fuel efficient, reliable, light, four-cycle, true 80 horse-power aircraft engine with the highest torque in its class.  Designed, developed and manufactured by Verner Motors (Slavek Verner) in the Czech Republic and well known to the microlight/UL community in Central Europe for over 20 years.  In order to provide you with a dependable, easy to maintain engine, it was made simple with as few moving parts as possible. Engine block: Light magnesium, lateral and axial needle bearings, 4-valves per OHC head. Fuel consumption: less than 2.2 gph at 3750 rpm (75% power, max. torque).

Standard equipment includes: electric starter, dual CDI ignition, 80 W generator, cog-belt reduction drive, dampener of torsional vibration, oil tank, separate oil cooler, two Bing 64 carburetors and UNI filters, oil pressure sensor, rubber engine mounts, basic instruments: CHT, Tach., Oil Temp., maintenance tools except a torque wrench. Each engine is test-run (2.5 hours), re-torqued/adjusted before delivery to the customer.

The VM 1400 Motor is certified for microlight use in Australia, France, Poland, Germany, Great Britain, and the Czech Republic. Certification is in progress in Russia and others.  After extremely difficult testing (simulating 600 hrs. of continuous service) done by the Czech Microlight Aviation authority, (only) theVM 1400 engine passed the certification process required by most European countries for microlight use on 3/15/98.

September 1997 - World UL Championship in Turkey. Our Rans Coyote S6-ES with the VM 1400 ended 5th in the competition.

The VM 1400 has also been tested and used for more than 2 years with new fuel (Propane). Engine mounted on a trike and flown with 2 people on-board uses approximately 2.2 GPH. There is a slight reduction in power and for starts in cold weather a pre-heater should be used.
